Actually I do not have much time to write in length about this very important issue that has become ever more relevant to our people. However I just thought to highlight this issue on the statehood of Israel, since President Nasheed has said, on his return from the UN trip, that the problems regarding Israel are “political issues between Arabs and Israel”.
Just wanted to pinpoint that Israel, when it was established it was to give a so-called ‘homeland’ for the JEWISH people. It continued to expand since then in order to give home to the JEWs, and it is even now defying the UN resolutions and international laws and ever so fiercely and inhumanely killing innocent women and children and tearing down the house of the residents of Palestine and increasing the settlements to give homes to the JEWISH families.
Israel has always played the ‘jewish’ ticket to increase its foothold in the Middle East. Thus as long as it operates within the ‘jewish’ dimension it is a religious issue. This problem, thus surpasses all national, political or geographical boundaries, and inevitably brings the people of other religions such as Islam and Christianity into the picture.
Thus for President Nasheed to seemingly brush aside this reality of a “JEWISH state”, which the current Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu and his coalition government so openly and emphatically push forward, is a bit naïve to say the least.
For President Nasheed and his Foreign Minister and the senior people of his Party this may be a political issue, but for the ordinary Maldivian on the street it is very much a religious issue. And it will remain so, so long as the Israeilis operate within that religious dimension…!
By the way, how ironic it is, that the moment they stop operating within that religious dimension, the very existence of the State of Israel would almost definitely, come to an end…!

Occupation 101
Synopsis
A thought-provoking and powerful documentary film on the current and historical root causes of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Unlike any other film ever produced on the conflict -- 'Occupation 101' presents a comprehensive analysis of the facts and hidden truths surrounding the never ending controversy and dispels many of its long-perceived myths and misconceptions.
The film also details life under Israeli military rule, the role of the United States in the conflict, and the major obstacles that stand in the way of a lasting and viable peace. The roots of the conflict are explained through first-hand on-the-ground experiences from leading Middle East scholars, peace activists, journalists, religious leaders and humanitarian workers whose voices have too often been suppressed in American media outlets.
The film covers a wide range of topics -- which include -- the first wave of Jewish immigration from Europe in the 1880's, the 1920 tensions, the 1948 war, the 1967 war, the first Intifada of 1987, the Oslo Peace Process, Settlement expansion, the role of the United States Government, the second Intifada of 2000, the separation barrier and the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, as well as many heart wrenching testimonials from victims of this tragedy.

President Nasheed is out of his senses. This may be just the beginning of their hidden agenda. Oh my beloved brothers and sisters, know that the ruling party is for secularist Maldives. May Allah give us victory over the treason.
An easier way to make a quick buck was intended. There is no sense of morality here.
An easier way to make a quick buck was intended. There is no sense of morality here.
Nasheed also said that agreement with Adhaalath was on religious matters and that having diplomatic relations with Israel was a political matter..... I am not getting this.....
Now you are witnessing the true colors of president nasheed. He is a friend of the enemies of muslims.
this has nothing to do with him being an enemy... it's a desperate attempt to get out the economic problems...
It was somewhat unnerving to see the way Mr Nasheed was skipping around the questions that were being asked without giving any direct answers. I agree with the last anonymous comment, it seems like a wild, desperate attempt to bail us out of our current economic issues. But he's playing a dangerous game here; ignoring the moral implications to achieve anything is never good. I was also rather disappointed to hear him say that the problems between Palestine & Israel are political, not religious. Confusing, isn't it?
He seems to be a little too eager in trying to please the likes of the US.
I still dont' get it.
If we can maintain relations with 'Islamic' states that directly harm us, why can't we have diplomatic contacts with a 'jewish' state that has never done any wrong to us?
Wait. We're all arab political pawns.. i forget.
Never mind.
Whether this issue is religious or political, we do consider it both way. Lets say Israelis are fighting for expansion of their land, Why Palestinians don't doth the same, They are weak! I don't believe it. Cox ALLAH THA' Alaa asks human to try and HE will provide us. Doesn't mention when it would be provided.
Actually all Palestinians are also fighting for the land, not for the SAKE of GOD.
Yaamyn: So Maldivians should recognise Israel just because Israel have not done anything wrong to the Maldivians? North Korea has not done anything to the Maldives, does that mean Maldivians should support North Korea?
What about all the atrocities committed by Israelis against the Palestinians and other Arab people?
This is not only a political or religious issue, but it's also a humanitarian issue. Leaving the issue of who really owns the land, just consider the suffering of the people there (and the suffering between the two sides are not comparable). There are even orthodox Jews from different parts of world who are against the state of Israel.
Also, would you like to give an example of when an Islamic state directly harmed the Maldives? The key word being, directly.
I think it's obvious to anyone that the only reason the Maldivian government would want to establish relations with Israel would be because they are able to get some sort of economical benefit from it. One could argue that every country has to consider its own prosperity and survival first before anything else. And this is where the problem lies.
What the government of Maldives have done is to completely remove religion from the issue. In some ways this is saying that they don't care about the well being of the Muslims in general and are only considered about their own people.
The least Maldivians could do to support their brothers in Palestine is not to recognise the state of Israel. This is what a lot of Muslim countries are doing.
If an act is evil, other people doing the same act does not make it any less evil. So Maldivians can't use the excuse that Arab countries even recognise Israel.
It is a shame that some of our politicians, knowingly or unknowingly, are moving away from the truth of the statehood of Israel. Don't they know that Ben-Gurion (the first Prime Minister of Israel) himself acknowleged that the zionist stole somebody else's land when he said "Why should the Arabs make peace? If I was an Arab leader I would never make terms with Israel. That is natural: we have taken their country ... There has been anti-Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They only see one thing: we have come here and stolen their country. Why should they accept that? They may perhaps forget in one or two generations' time, but for the moment there is no chance. So it is simple: we have to stay strong and maintain a powerful army"?
Most of our politicans(MPs, ministers etc), are either too ignorant or too corrupt to acknowledge this truth. Either way, they don't deserve to be in their posts!
Britain and the Wahabis are
responsible for the creation
of 'Israel'.So its no surprising
that MDP govt did this and the
local wahabbis are almost silent
about it.For them,'anhenaa ge aura'
is the only hot topic
I have to say something about the last comment. It was hilarious. I'm not sure if the Anonymous who comment was trying to be funny, if he wasn't then it's rather worrying.
First of all what is a Wahhabi? Are people with full beards, with trousers above their ankles and who pray 5 times a day a Wahhabi? What then is a Muslim?
If those are the Wahhabis why would they support Israel? Have you been living in a box all your life to not notice what's been going around you?
What do you mean by 'almost silent'? That's just funny. If someone was almost silent what does it tell you? And how can anyone be almost silent?
I like it how Maldivians make up such contrived conspiracy theories just because they can't understand Islam.
The current political configuration of the Maldives is increasingly looking similar to the British-Wahabi model especially in the light of the recent events.Sheikhu husseinu is apponted as a state minister and what comes next ?
You keep on playing with the definition of 'Wahabi' and the last time you tried to prove some stupid Nigeria history theory which you could not understand yourself.
